What is stress?
Stress can be defined in many different ways. Stress can develop when major changes occur in your life or/and when you feel that you can’t meet your own or others’ expectations. It is not dangerous to be stressed for a short time, but if you feel badly pressed for an extended period of time it can affect your health! Therefore, it is very important that you take good care of yourself and talk to your parents or a teacher if you are feeling stressed for an extended period of time.
Listen to your body in order to relieve stress
If you get physically ill when you feel pressure about your responsibilities and tasks to be done in a short period of time, then it’s time to take it easy! When you feel bad that means your body is trying to tell you something wrong with you. All headaches, nausea and dizziness that occur for no reason are signs of stress. Listen to your body and talk to your parents or a good friend about the problem.
Drop “must”
“I MUST have this job in 12 hours!”
“I just have to be the best at …”
Do you recognize your own thoughts in these two sentences? It is very easy to push yourself beyond your capacity and feel that you have to be perfect at all. But there is good news! No one is perfect, so you can relax. You are good enough. Yes you are!
Log off the social media
On your friend’s snap, you can see that she has just been out walking in the woods. Your other friend’s Facebook status is “yuppy, another achievement added to the collection!”
You probably have the feeling of being inadequate when you check social media and see how well your friends and classmates are doing. But keep in mind that it is impossible to live up to all of your friends’ achievements and that most people exaggerate on their Facebook and Instagram profiles.
Don’t be knocked out
When you face adversary, and when you do not reach all that you had set out for, you probably most want to sit down and cry. But don’t! Instead, try to remind yourself that it’s all right to fail. Allow yourself to be sad, but don’t let it ruin your self-esteem.
