Halloumi sandwich with long-baked tomatoes

Ingredients for Halloumi Sandwich Recipe

  • 8 tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon crushed dried chilli
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 2 whole grain breads of 250 g
  • 1 hp Halloumi grill cheese
  • 100 g mixed salad


Halve the tomatoes, sprinkle them with sugar and chili powder. Bake the tomatoes in the oven at approx. 125 degrees for minimum 3 hours.

Cut the onions into thin strips and flip them with salt and lemon juice. Let them toss for an hour in the fridge. Prepare the bread according to the instructions on the packaging. Halve the loaves and pat them. Cut the cheese into slices and grill them on a grill pan for 2-3 minutes on each side. Divide the salad, the marinated onions and the tomatoes on the bottom of the breads and place the cheese on top. Close the top of the speckled bread.

Halloumi is a Cypriot cheese with mint flavor that is heat resistant. The shape of the slices is preserved while melting soft inside. Do not fry it too long and serve it immediately.
