Having trouble falling asleep? Then maybe you should try this trick.
There is nothing worse than lying and turning and turning in bed for hours because you cannot fall asleep. That’s why it sounds fabulous (and a little too good to be true) that it should actually be possible to fall asleep in just one minute with some simple breathing exercises.
4-7-8 Breathing Method
The exercise is called the 4-7-8 method, was designed by the American doctor and health expert Andrew Weil, and after 60 seconds you should be in a dream country.
It may not work the first time you try the breathing exercise, as you may need to exercise a little bit more. If you have trouble falling asleep, it probably won’t hurt to give it a chance and go on trying the technique until it works at some point!
Here’s what you need to do to fall asleep in just one minute:
- Exhale through your mouth as you make a blistering sound.
- Close your mouth and gently breathe in through your nose as you count to four.
- Hold your breath as you count to seven.
- Exhale through your mouth as you say a windy sound and count to eight.
It all has to be done in one breath. Repeat the exercise three times more so that you do it four times in total.
